slander...

The good folks over at Emergent NO! have taken it upon themselves to post/link to the most vile, disgusting, slanderous "critique" of Brian McLaren I have ever, ever seen.
A sample:

"Interestingly, this ecclesiastical milksop who won’t even take a stand one way or the other regarding sodomite matrimony characterizes the American nuclear family as a “waste” of resources and unworthy of the attention it receives in popular Evangelical thought. McLaren hopes extended families and “intentional households” (think glorified communes) will be the wave of the future.

One wonders if Pastor McLaren’s will be as keen on the share and share alike and the what’s mine is yours and what’s yours is mine outlook when the additional men he invites to reside at his compound have intentions for his wife? Or as most experiments in communalized domesticity end up, will Rev. McLaren be the only one permitted to relish the benefits of the community property if you catch my drift? Jonestown or Waco, anyone?"

While normally, I would say "ignore it"... I can't. This is wrong. I'm not saying you should care, but if you do, please encourage (nicely) the good ladies of Emergent No! to withdraw this article and apologize.

UPDATE: Article REMOVED. Very nice. Good decision I think... Chip says I need to move on. Oh, how I need to move on...

They removed the link Bob.
Here is what Carla said:
"I have decided to remove the article that ticked so many here off. While I do agree with many of the things said in the article, I dont agree with the way they were said, and this convicted me to act accordingly.

As well, after doing some further research on their main site, blog and forums, I found some language I wasn't impressed with, and some course humor that I was equally unimpressed with.

The article was removed for the same reason I recently removed the list of referrers to the bottom of this page - some of the referring sites, I dont support and do not want linked on this site.

So, there ya go.

From what I have read from this particular web site, they don't seem open to honest debate. Because of that, there is almost no chance of getting them to see another point of view. They seem very firm with there assertion that the emergent church is bad. It's really a waste of time to try and talk to people who are not going to listen.

It's like talking to people about politics who are on the extreme right or left, there is no persuading them even if you have a good point. You did what you could Bob, save your words for people willing to listen.

I just deleted E-No from my blog reader, and the peace of God, which passes all understanding, flloded my heart, or something like that. It's time to let it go.
