theology pub...
... was good again last night. At least I enjoyed it. But that may be mainly the influence of the Dude.
The Dude, for those who must know (have I mentioned this before?) is basically a white russian with extra coffee liquor. It's named after the Dude in the Big Lebowski.
So- the Dude, talking about the Holy Spirit, which leads us back (always) to the topic of listening to God. That really seems to have resonance for us right now.
Listening...
Anyway, it occurred to me last night that perhaps continuing the theology pub on for a little while might be cool, if people are up for it. I don't know- sometimes, knowing "this will only last 6 weeks" can be a really cool thing. I'm pretty convinced that it is precisely the wieght of trying toget something to last forever that often makes it collapse- I'm a big believer in putting an end date on things- home groups, discipleship, stuff like that. Do what you need to do and then give yourself the freedom to go do something else. Sacred cows/cherished programs that no one loves, but no one will kill get started because we can't say "Let's just do this for 6 months and see how we feel at the end of it."
wow- that was a tangent.
