I don't have a Tivo...

But I might as well.

We've completely given up watching broadcast TV. Now, we either download, buy or rent DVDs of shows and watch them serially as we have the chance. Sometimes one episode, sometimes more. No commercials and if the cliffhanger is really, really good and we just can't wait... we don't!

And can I say that "Lost" is THE BEST SHOW ON TV in decades?

Seriously. There's nothing better. I'm into 24, but this is better. I'm into Alias, but this is WAY better. If you've never seen it, download the first episode (try bitorrent) and buy the whole season here:

seriously. Get it. Now. Go!

Are you still here?

Okay.. I'll tell you more.

It's about these people whose plane crashes on an island... 40 or so of them survive.
No one comes to resucue them.
Strange things begin to happen.

The plotting is amazing, as are the flashbacks to how each came to be there.
And just about every episode somehow manages to be a "twist" as we realize what we thought about people based on assumptions is not reality based on their backstory. The show has a very cool way of making you say "Oh, crap!"

This is one GREAT show.

If you tire of reality shows, of cop and crime shows and want something truly original, well-written and engaging.. check out Lost!

Bob-- this is fantastic! You have just given me a great response to my wife's suggestion that we not "hurry" through the 24 DVD's we're watching right now. Many thanks. But, seriously, better than 24?

Yeah...

We got into Alias after being told "better than 24" and I can definitely say... No Way! 24 kicks Alias's arse...

But... this is better.

Now. Now QUITE the every episode cliffhanger ending, but in terms of writing and dialogue and PLOT and all those cool things? 24 is a Triple. Lost is an out of the park Homer.

:)

And I'm still awed by the size of that cappucino cup!

One of my favorite pictures of myself (can you have a favorite pic of yourself?). That is a flower pot at Home Depot. Now that you have that little piece of trivia, I'm sure your Saturday feels complete

hey bob,

lost is one of my favorite shows also. i knew i liked you for a reason! i 've preached about it twice!

also do you like battlestar?
and also 'cold case'?

both are also great shows that tell stories well and get into the depths of character formation, motivations, hopes, fears and dreams.

i hope to see you on august 6-7 at Evergreen,
