VBS!
Did any of you go to VBS? (Vacation Bible School)
What did you think? Will you send your kids?
I went as a real little kid back in NJ... maybe 5 or 6.
One thing I remember very distinctly is that I learned Bible stories, sang fun songs... and they took an offering with a scale. It was a competition between the boys and the girls. We would each come up and put our offering in one bucket or another on each side of a scale (a hanging scale, like Justice holds...) and then, with a dramatic flair, they'd let the scale go and we'd see who won that week.
Looking back it was all good except that part :)

Ye gods!
Gender competition propaganda (among other things). I went to Vacation Bible School too... no scale, but I'll bet there was something that made me want to kick boys' asses ...
Yeah, it was fun. My favorite thing was the Music Machine. So 1970's!
I don't recall going at my own church, but I do have good memories of attending VBS with some good friends at their church. I think it was mostly being with my friends though that I enjoyed; I don't remember much about the particular activities.
