Welcome Welcome to evergreen... we try hard to make the heart of this community be relationship. Our relationships with one another and our relationship with God. We invite everyone, regardless of where they might be at spiritually to come and be a part of evergreen, seek God with us, and see if this life of following Jesus isn't for them as well. No promises of an easy road... just people to walk it with you.
"Is sex a picture of heaven?" Bell wonders. It's all about God and sex and heaven, he says: "...they're connected. And they can't be separated. Where the one is you will always find the other." Bell's book isn't a sex manual, an exploration of the differences between men and women or a marriage how-to, though all of that is here. Instead, it's the story of God becoming human, of humans mirroring God and love made manifest in the chaos of our humanity. Sex God is about relationships revealed in a way that elevates the human condition and offers hope to those whose relationships are wounded. |

Or at least part of it!
Evergreen began to come together in the Fall of 2003, when Bob and Amy Hyatt decided that their time at a suburban megachurch was drawing to a close. Actually... the suburban megachurch decided their time was coming to a close, but that’s another story. After praying, talking with friends and taking a deep, deep breath, in November and December of that year, they started calling together some friends old and new to help with the work of beginning a new community. A main concern was not pulling people out of key positions in other churches around town, but looking to those who were in transition or ready for change to help the work of starting a new church that would position itself as both for the Gospel and life in the way of Jesus and for those who were unchurched or formerly churched. |
